Red Hat Associate Manager, Software Engineering - OpenShift in Bengaluru, India

About the Job:

The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for an Associate Manager focused on software engineering to join us in the OpenShift Cluster Manager group. OpenShift Cluster Manager is responsible for provisioning and life cycling Managed OpenShift services on AWS, GCP and Azure.

In this role, you will build, organize, and manage a global team of talented Red Hat engineers. You will lead the team's work and delivery, and you will be involved in technical designs, discussions, and prioritizations.

You will also participate in creating team structure, in team performance reviews, and in coaching and mentoring associates. Furthermore, you'll collaborate with multiple Red Hat’s engineering teams and open source communities around the globe as well as major partners, strategic customers, product managers, and global alliance managers.

What will you do?

  • Guide the work of the core development team and build enterprise software offerings at scale

  • Develop and implement the short and long-term strategies for technology, development, and productization

  • Contribute to and lead technical discussions, designs, cross-team engineering collaboration, and customer and partner engagements

  • Lead the day-to-day activities of the core team across the globe, including detailed project management

  • Manage and grow a motivated, engaged, and effective team; be highly focused on achieving targets and delivery

  • Play an active role in the hiring activities for on-site and remote teams

What will you bring?

  • Experience managing software engineering teams, both technically and as a people manager

  • Record leading agile globally distributed engineering teams and managing software development projects

  • Solid organizational capability, including building and achieving aggressive plans and leading the everyday activities of a global engineering team

  • Deep technical understanding and expertise and the ability to navigate through high-level system and software architecture down to detailed designs, code reviews, and problem-solving; this is a highly technical, directly involved role

  • Experience with at least one big cloud provider, e.g. Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure

  • Excellent understanding of all aspects of software development, microservices, project management, quality assurance (QA), and customer advocacy in a large-scale environment

  • Demonstrated record of successfully delivering large and complex enterprise-grade solutions to the customer base

  • Experience with microservices architecture, Kubernetes, or similar cloud technologies
