Job Description
General Purpose
Provide daily leadership and guidance to refrigeration maintenance staff and assist the supervisor in directing work activities and resources. Monitor activities to ensure the overall system functionality for the facility’s ammonia refrigeration system. Install and repair industrial and commercial refrigerating systems according to blueprints and engineering specifications, using knowledge of refrigeration, structural layout, and function and design of components. Demonstrate mastery of all job functions in the maintenance area/department. Train and mentor team members.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Assign daily jobs and work orders, detailing any requirements for the day and delegating/participating to successfully accomplish the daily tasks
Ensure maintenance staff has a good understanding of work practices and procedures; train and develop maintenance staff
Assist the supervisor to ensure that all work orders are completed in a timely manner, while maintaining high quality standards
Maintain and perform preventative maintenance activities on ammonia refrigeration systems
Complete accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records (MUPONE and APSM)
Observe and test system operation, using gauges, and instruments
Dismantle, assemble, and install refrigeration equipment
Support the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) purchasing and inventory management functions including all repair and maintenance parts and supplies
Anticipate parts requirements for the tasks, follow proper purchasing procedures, and acquire parts ahead of anticipated task performance
Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime
Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production
Ensure all repairs are documented. Complete all paperwork clearly, legibly, and accurately with required information. Document all required information in accordance with standard operations procedures
Stay up to date on new products, equipment, technology and techniques
Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, identify opportunities to improve processes
Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

OUR MECHANICS FOR THIS POSITION CAN MAKE UP TO:
- $36.46 per hour
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 6:00am -2:30pm, 1st shift

Requirements
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Graduation from trade school or technical school preferred in applicable field of study
4 years of ammonia refrigeration systems or related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, coupled with demonstrated leadership attributes or team leadership experience
Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems
Able to demonstrate leadership qualities as a self-starter and able to set direction
Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
Able to lead and instruct others on the proper and safe procedures
Able to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems, and take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment down time
Able to use a variety of maintenance tools
Able to perform complex or complicated maintenance activities/repairs independently
Able to complete projects from planning to installation
Able to present options and ideas to current processes or procedures
Able to adapt and manage to change effectively
Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Basic computer skills
Must be able to read, write and speak English
