Job Description: Manufacturing Engineer
The Manufacturing Engineer provides technical support related to specific products and production lines. The role involves sharing ownership of product performance and production line efficiencies.
Responsibilities
Understand the product and its intended operation (form, fit, and function). Assist production, maintenance, and quality in the debug of production processes.
Prepare and revise Process Flow Diagrams, Operation sheets, and Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Monitor and analyze production processes to improve performance, efficiency, and reject rates.
Support resolution of technical issues and report on all current technical issues and status during weekly meetings and/or management reviews.
Lead Failure Analysis efforts related to production issues, performance issues, and critical characteristics.
Generate Requests for Process Change forms and manage them through the approval process.
Generate ECPs and RFVs as needed.
Serve as the main internal technical point of contact for assigned programs.
Support Configuration Control of the Technical Data Packages associated with the products produced.
Define process control (including SPC) requirements for production processes.
Participate in risk assessment for production operations.
Participate in Build Readiness Reviews (BRRs), Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs).
Participate in line set-up including layout, flow, equipment, storage, etc.
Request and issue SWO numbers.
Build and analyze test samples to understand design margin and/or variation in product performance.
Create and lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for assigned programs.
Build pre-FAAT, pilot, and engineering test samples.
Support customer technical requests and questions; provide resultant effects to production processes and performance.
Support and assist Quality and Purchasing in resolution of supplier issues.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
Experience in ISO 9001 standards.
Familiarity with the defense industry and DoD/military requirements.
Proven track record in taking ownership of production lines and driving change.
Experience in continuous improvement and process engineering.
Familiarity with automated manufacturing processes, including automated assembly cells.
Experience with light/high volume assembly processes.
Experience in new line and product launches.
Proficiency in PFMEA and planned solutions for production rates, scrap, rejects, labor efficiencies, and machine faults.
Knowledge of Minitab, Lean manufacturing, assembly, and automation.
Hands-on, boots-on-the-ground approach to interacting with operators.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
A four-year degree is not necessary; relevant experience is key.
Ambitious and quick thinker in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
Work Environment
The work schedule is 7am-5pm on normal workdays with an hour lunch. The schedule includes four nine-hour days and an eight-hour day on Fridays, with every other Friday off. Flexible hours within an hour each way are possible as long as consistency is maintained. The team includes a new Manufacturing Engineer, a greener (1+ year) Manufacturing Engineer, a mid-level Manufacturing Engineer, a Continuous Improvement Engineer, and Chief Engineers overseeing manufacturing and design. Each Manufacturing Engineer typically oversees two production lines, usually one high-volume/high-priority and one lower-volume line. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $100000.00
