CITY OF BELOIT General Fleet Mechanic in BELOIT, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The City of Beloit has an opportunity available in the Operations Division of the Department of Public Works. The City is seeking an experienced and skilled candidate to fill the position of General Fleet Mechanic. The General Fleet Mechanic is responsible for performing both independently as well as part of a team to complete assigned tasks and to accomplish common goals that ensure proper maintenance and repair of the City of Beloit Public Works Fleet. This position is expected to perform both minor and major repairs as well as preventative maintenance on light, medium, and heavy duty equipment assigned to the Department of Public Works. This equipment includes, but is not limited to: automobiles, all classes of trucks, front-end loaders, rear-load and automated side-load refuse and recycling trucks, snow removal equipment, backhoes and excavating equipment, road and asphalt repair equipment, aerial bucket trucks, tree trimming and removal equipment, landscape maintenance tractors and multi-deck mowers, semi-tractors and live floor semi-trailers along with any other equipment deemed necessary to fulfill the City of Beloit Public Works Department\'s related tasks. This position typically works Monday through Thursday from 6:30a.m. to 3:30p.m. and Fridays from 6:30a.m. to 10:30a.m. Schedule is subject to change based on business needs. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 1. High School diploma or equivalent. 2. Minimum of 5 years of experience working with gas and diesel engines. 3. A valid driver\'s license and satisfactory driving record 4. Class B Commercial Driver\'s License and all applicable endorsements that are required to legally operate every type and size vehicle owned/operated by the City of Beloit Department of Public Works within six months of hire. 5. Class A Commercial Driver\'s License and all applicable endorsements that are required to legally operate every type and size vehicle owned by the City of Beloit Department of Public Works within one year of hire. 6. Master Automotive Certification through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) is desired. 7. Master Truck Certification through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) is desired. 8. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
