Department of Ecology Nooksack Basin Specialist (Environmental Specialist 3) (In-Training) in Bellingham, Washington

The Water Resources Program *within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Nooksack Basin Specialist (Environmental Specialist 3) (In-Training) position. This position is located in our *Bellingham Field Office (BFO) in Bellingham, WA{rel="nofollow"}. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.
In this position, you will play a crucial role in Water Resources Inventory Area (WRIA) 1 water right adjudications, which are complex, large-scale legal proceedings involving thousands of property and water right records. You will provide technical assistance to the public on the requirements for submitting court claims in this adjudication, conduct research and water right review, and handle the processing and permitting of water right applications. You will have field work opportunities, particularly during the summer months, and the opportunity to collaborate with a fantastic team of Water Resources staff.

This position allows you to progress through the Environmental Specialist field and achieve the goal class of an Environmental Specialist 3. Candidates will be considered at the Environmental Specialist 2 and the Environmental Specialist 3 levels, depending on their qualifications. *Telework options for this position: *This position will have flexibility of a hybrid schedule, empowering work from home and office, providing less time in traffic and shrinking your carbon footprint. This position will be eligible for up to 20% telework, with the expectation of working in the office four days per week.
