Whatcom Community College Adjunct Faculty, Library Instructor in BELLINGHAM, Washington
Whatcom Community College invites applications for a part-time, adjunct faculty library position starting winter quarter 2025. We are hiring to for an evening librarian to work 4:30-8:00pm, Monday-Thursday.
Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- An understanding of the mission of a community college.
- A desire to provide a quality experience for students.
- Deliver quality reference, instruction, reserves and circulation services to students, employees, and community members.
- Participate in library/learning commons projects and programs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A master's degree in library science, information science, or related degree.
- Demonstrate collegiality and cooperation with other employees.
The ability to push a full book truck the length of the library; the ability to use a kick stool to retrieve library material from a top stack (book) shelf; and the ability to bend and retrieve library material from a bottom stacks shelf.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability using and understanding technology including a Library Service Platform such as ALMA/Primo and bibliographic tools such as EBSCOhost, ProQuest, etc.
- Experience with a variety of workplace software applications, including MS Office.
- Experience with instructional technology such as Canvas (Learning Management System).
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Experience providing individual instruction in the use of the library's services and resource via multiple modes, including in-person, telephone, email, and chat.
Salary
Salary:
- $45.97 per hour.
Benefit Package:
- Accrues a percentage of 7 hours (equal to the percentage of workload) per month of sick leave (ex. 50% quarterly employment contract x 7 hrs for full-time = 3.5 hrs per month for that quarter.)
Start Date:
- Winter Quarter 2025.
