As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you will be architecting, designing, and delivering solutions for our customers as part of our in-house hardware consulting team. Our customers bring us challenging projects across a broad spectrum of industries including medical devices, consumer products, Industrial IoT, industrial automation, and mobile robotics. Core Responsibilities:
Develop detailed mechanical designs for complex systems
Own technical project requirements as a Technical Project Owner (T.P.O.)
Mentorship of engineers and technicians
Create and manage models in SOLIDWORKS
Build and test prototypes as well as prepare and deliver design reviews
Design and conduct tests to validate design compliance to requirements
Contribute to sales and proposal efforts when called upon.
Collaborate with systems, electrical, optical, and software engineers to integrate subsystems into designs
Requirements:
8+ years of mechanical design of industrial automated machines/equipment, custom robots and/or robot end effectors
Excellent interpersonal, influencing, leadership, verbal and written communication skills required
Expert in CAD, love design and concept generation. (SOLIDWORKS preferred)
Experience with building prototypes, CNC machined and rapid prototyping, fast iterations etc.
Requires strong design skills, managing through ambiguity, and technical problem-solving skills
Profound understanding of mechanics, structures, and mechanisms
Extensive knowledge of instrumentation including load cells, encoders, laser distance sensors, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong familiarity with common mechanical components including springs, bearings, gearboxes, linear guidance, etc.
Experience working directly and effectively with customers to capture requirements and find solutions
Experience designing and building custom robots and robot end effectors
Experience creating electrical schematics and/or programming microprocessors
Experience with electric motors and drives (DC brushed, DC brushless, Servo, etc.)
Hands-on - willing to work with hands when needed
SOLIDWORKS PDM proficiency

Education: Bachelor’s degree in BSME, MSME preferred or equivalent experience.

For Washington-State-based role, the base salary hiring range for this position is $125k to $150k. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
