Amazon Software Development Engineer II, Amazon Flex, Onboarding and Account Management in Bellevue, Washington

Amazon Flex is a global business unit whose mission is to enable fast delivery speeds and absorb variability in the business, at any time of year through scalable, innovative, and low-cost operations using independent contractor Delivery Partners (DPs). The Amazon Flex business was built to support Amazon’s growth and meet customer expectations for fast deliveries across all Amazon supported businesses. The program gives Delivery Partners the opportunity to earn money by delivering packages to Amazon customers.

The Amazon Flex Account Management Experience team is focused on providing a user-friendly experience for DPs to onboard and manage their account status. This requires building and supporting configuration-driven systems which can adapt to changing program requirements across the 8 countries in which Flex operates. Our vision is to provide a best-in-class scalable platform to onboard and vet DPs so that we can enable them to start making deliveries and earning extra money to fulfill their goals.

As a key member of the engineering team, you will be solving complex problems, and working on challenges in software engineering as the scale and suite of our services grow. You will be responsible for creating and delivering services, features, and software solutions to shape how onboarding and account management of new providers evolves in the Last Mile org.

A successful SDE in this space will understand and appreciate the complexities in full stack development and especially front-end development (React, JavaScript, TypeScript). They will bring knowledge around the importance of test automation and encourage a culture of curiosity and learning within the team. Your work will be cross-functional involving partnering with other teams in Amazon, including Operations, and Product, and Program Managers. We are looking for someone with a go-getter attitude who is ready to own a problem and passionately drive successful implementation, maintenance, and OE aspects of it.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.

  2. Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.

  3. Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems. Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

  4. Focus on maintaining system health to improve and manage OE

A day in the life

Your day will consist of joining a morning standup to share past day updates. We use post-scrum times to discuss open questions or any items needing team collaboration. From there, most of your time will be spent coding, designing new systems/features, debugging issues, and attending team design reviews to provide feedback.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
