Amazon Senior Finance Manager, Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) in Bellevue, Washington

The Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) team owns Amazon’s global inventory planning systems: SCOT decides what, when, who, where, and how much inventory to buy in order to meet customer needs as well as Amazon’s business goals. We do this for millions of items, for hundreds of product lines worth billions of dollars of inventory world-wide. Our systems are built entirely in-house, and are on the cutting edge in automated large scale supply chain planning and optimization systems.

The Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) Finance team is seeking a Senior Finance Manager (SFM) to support the Automated Inventory Management team. This role will support the business organization responsible for automating the inventory management function, taking over responsibility for day-to-day running of inventory outputs ( including actions taken on unhealthy inventory), audit functions, and key performance indicators used across Amazon to manage inventory and delight customers. This is an opportunity to establish and improve the metrics, mechanisms, and operating parameters that effectively monitor, report and manage Amazon’s worldwide inventory position including representing in CFO reviews. This role will involve interacting with senior leaders across the company and act as a key partner in defining and building the next big advancement in automated inventory management capabilities at Amazon.

Key job responsibilities

  • Identifying and structuring financial support for the WW Retail Inventory Management function.

  • Controllership over the tools and systems created by the inventory team

  • Ownership of the Retail Inventory and Inventory Valuation commentary for the month end close reviews that are reviewed by Amazon VPs, SVPs and CEO/ CFO

  • Drive modeling financial trade-offs and implications of key inventory management projects and drive teams for driving inventory efficiency

  • Create framework for applying appropriate financial controls at scale to inventory management systems

  • Manage a team to effectively address priorities, provide career development coaching and develop exceptional talent.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science)

  • 10+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 8+ years of finance experience

  • 5+ years of direct management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hiring, leading and developing teams experience

  • 8+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

  • 8+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 8+ years of mentoring junior finance and/or business team members experience

  • 5+ years of working with senior staff (e.g. c-suite) experience

  • MBA, or CPA

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $227,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
