Senior Engineer, Fuel Handling Systems TerraPower, LLC. is seeking a highly motivated Senior Fuel Handling Design Engineer. In this role, you will create and review design solutions for fuel handling equipment, structures, and systems for the Natrium Generation IV Reactor. Candidates must have extensive experience in equipment design and qualification, with an emphasis in Thermal Analysis. Experience in equipment operation, maintenance, and fabrication is also valued. The Senior Fuel Handling Design Engineer will report to the Fuel Handling System Manager and will join the Natrium Fuel Handling Team. The Senior Fuel Handling Design Engineer will work as part of a high functioning team of engineers and scientists focused on developing the design of next generation advanced nuclear reactors and associated fuel handling equipment. Responsibilities Design of nuclear fuel handling systems and equipment from requirements through final design. Perform and review thermal analysis of fuel handling systems and equipment. Develop and recommend design solutions and testing based upon thermal considerations. Support planning efforts and maintain schedule adherence for design activities within a system, as well as their integration with an overall plant design delivery schedule. Identify and ensure effective application of correct design codes into the design of plant systems such as ASME, ANS, ASTM, ASHRAE, IEEE, NFPA, and regulatory requirements. Interface with design disciplines (such as mechanical, instrumentation and controls, civil, and nuclear) to identify and develop plant design information and specify system design and performance criteria. Document design engineering work through technical writing of system design descriptions, equipment design specifications, design reports, trade studies, and calculations/analyses. Present design results in design reviews. Review and assess technical merit of solutions provided by team members and subcontractors by participating in design reviews. Provide technical direction and oversight of subcontractors, working with the contract administrator to ensure on-time delivery of work products. Propose and initiate testing programs and provide support and oversight during test execution, evaluation of test results, and reporting of test results.
