Amazon is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented Operations Engineer to be a part of our global initiative of developing and delivering the next generation of world-class systems. Successful candidates are natural self-starters who have prior engineering experience in the integrated project life cycle, including development, design, implementation, enhancement, and support.

As an Operations Engineer for Amazon, you will be able to work with some of the most talented engineers in the design, development, and delivery of systems around the globe. You will lead initiatives and complex cross-functional projects or programs in ambiguous and complex problem spaces. You integrate systems for safety, security, stability, and efficiency. You participate in the full system development life cycle, working within broadly defined parameters, including test plan execution and solution quality needs.

Key job responsibilities

  • Work with internal/external teams to successfully manage the lifecycle of challenging projects, and act as owner in delivering on projects objectives. Projects may span organizations in support of business objectives.

  • Partner with internal teams & stakeholders to set project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules to meet deadlines. Proactively assess stakeholders’ dependencies and milestones, problem-solve and drive solutions to mitigate the impact from the issues.

  • Lead and coordinate all execution efforts in delivering systems and creating standards and guidelines. Simplify, optimize, remove bottlenecks and provide feedback while resolving difficult system problems or technical deficiencies.

  • Promptly and accurately communicate project status, risk analysis and risk mitigation plans. Effectively answer project questions in detail, and regularly produce clear and concise summaries for the projects to leadership/management team.

  • Excel at building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple projects.

  • Identify and lead process improvement initiatives that improve the Engineering and cross-teams’ efficiencies, optimizing the teams’ value and delivery. Through collaboration, generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions in compressed periods of time.

  • Travel up to 25% domestically

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level

  • Experience working with and managing third party vendors

  • Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $68,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $126,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
