The Compounder prepare and maintain quality product by mixing, testing, and adjusting rubber compound and associated dispersions as well as maintaining clean equipment.

Our Compounding department in Belleville, IL is now looking for a Compounder.
Pay: $22-24/hr
Schedule: M-TH 6am-430pm
Key Tasks
PRODUCES QUALITY PRODUCT BY:
Following precise directions; weighing, measuring, mixing ingredients for making the rubber compound and associated dispersions; notifying supervisor of process deviations and raw material or finished product difficulties; observing operations; obtaining samples for approval; adjusting product as instructed; moving material and containers.
SUPPORTS OPERATIONS BY:
Assisting in developing changes in present rubber processing procedures or in working out methods on new products; dipping mandrels, valve hose and stems, back plates, and all over miscellaneous items on the experimental dip line; filling chemicals in chlorinator room.
IDENTIFIES CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF SUBSTANCES BY:
Testing and recording physical properties of pre-dip, coagulate, and neoprene on a daily basis, including but not limited to temperature, viscosity, pH, surface tension, specific gravity, and dissolved solids.
MAINTAINS EQUIPMENT BY:
Emptying and cleaning production tanks in accordance with preventative scheduling; assisting in cleaning equipment; entering and cleaning storage and mixing tanks using ladder and confined space permit procedures.
MANAGES INVENTORY BY:
Performing bi-weekly inventory count to maintain an accurate record of raw material inventory.
MAINTAIN QUALITY SERVICE BY:
Keeping error rates minimal and within acceptable ranges; working at an efficient pace.

Your Background
High school diploma or GED required or one-year minimum related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of college education and experience
Proficient use of mixing equipment: small, medium, and large; low and high-speed pumps; forklift; tensiometer; viscometer; pH meter; hydrometer; balances; scales; computer; general hand tools for common maintenance
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Forklift certification; permit for confined spaces; respirator certification
