The Work You Will Do:
The Migrant and Seasonal Farm Worker is a professional position within the CareerSource system specializing in outreach work and providing individual or group vocational or employment counseling services to targeted/contracted groups (examples: ex-offenders, dislocated workers, veterans, Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers, etc.). The ideal candidate will
use standardized counseling techniques to assist customers with vocational goals and employability plans for entering employment.
provide available written documents informing workers of their rights under State and Federal statutes and regulations.
be bi-lingual – Spanish/English or Creole/English.
must have previous experience working with the migrant and seasonal farm worker population.
will be required to travel locally and must furnish own transportation.
conducts outreach and assessment services for Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers in the areas where they live, work and congregate.
The ideal candidate will provide information to MSFWs at their working, living or gathering areas, including day haul sites, by means of written and oral presentations either spontaneous or recorded, in a language readily understood by them to include:
Services available from the local office, including the availability of referrals to agricultural and non-agricultural employment, training, supportive services, testing, counseling and other job development services;
Specific employment opportunities which are currently available;
Information on the complaint system; and
Basic summary of farmworker rights regarding the terms and conditions of employment.
Coordinates services with state and local agencies and private employers for job development and referrals.
Completes accurate and timely case management.
Maintains accurate case records including tracking customers’ employability plans.
Maintains appropriate documentation for support services and conducts follow-up on customers on a regularly scheduled basis.
Refers customers to community resources for appropriate employment-related services and performs placement services, as required.
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Must have Migrant Seasonal Farm Worker (MSFW) background.
Requires verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in individual and group settings, both verbally and in writing in both English and Spanish.
Working knowledge/experience using Microsoft applications, which include Word, Excel and Power Point.
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective customer service and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous and effective manner.
Ability to record, collect, evaluate and analyze data.
Ability to work independently by planning, organizing and coordinating work assignments.

Ability to read and understand reports, documents and other written materials.
Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

Qualifications:
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state and national law enforcement records.
The incumbent must possess or obtain certification as a Workforce Professional Tier1 within 6 months of employment in the position.
