Project Overview:

Bechtel is a global provider of engineering, construction, and project management services with a reputation for excellence and innovative project delivery. An opportunity exists within the Bechtel project team to work closely with our customer on a key Bechtel project in Serbia. This project will be one of the largest greenfield projects ever built in Serbia.

Job Summary:

In accordance with Bechtel and Project procedures, Contracts Specialist is required to form and administer medium to high complexity contracts in accordance with the supply chain assignment schedule; participate in the development of master contracts documentation, procedures, forms and templates; provide mentorship to fellow contracts specialists, as and when required.

Whilst this role does not have direct reports it is expected that the Contracts Specialist will provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced or new personnel within the broader contracts and procurement team.

This role reports to and receives operational direction from the Contracts Lead and operating under the Contracts & Procurement Manager as part of the Integrated Project Management Team (IPMT).

Major Responsibilities:

  • Form and administer contracts

  • Participate in development of master contracts documentation, procedure, forms and templates

  • Implement contract strategy

  • Ensuring all commitments are accurately presented and follow established approval and signing authorities

  • Providing support to the Contracts Lead

  • Representing contracts function at package and project reviews

  • Developing project contracts operating procedures, forms, templates for review by designated supervisor and inclusion into the project contract procedures as required

  • Developing, monitoring and maintaining project master contracts forms, including legal and commercial terms and conditions

  • Providing recommendations to designated manager regarding changes to the terms and conditions, procedures, templates and forms to improve efficiency, accuracy, quality of the contracts function outputs.

  • Continuous improvement

  • Formation and administration of project contract commitments through established project policies and procedures, including bid preparation and evaluation, leading or participating in negotiations, management of and processing variations.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Broad experience in the formation, negotiation, award and administration of medium to high complexity design and construct, construction or services contracts.

  • Experience in developing complex contract types, fee arrangements, terms and conditions.

  • Working knowledge of change management procedures pertaining to Requests for Information (RFIs), change notices, change orders, amendments, and claims and dispute resolution.

  • Skilled in working and communicating effectively with all levels of project functional groups.
