Leggett & Platt Tupelo Sleeper Testing Technician in Belden, Mississippi

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Testing Technician within our Engineering Product Development team to help support our Home Furniture business. In this important role, you'll be a critical part of the Engineering Product Development team, making sure every part of our processes fits seamlessly. Your expertise will drive us toward our goal of delivering top-notch quality to our customers, pushing us to lead the way in our industry.

 

The Testing/Sample Technician role is responsible for performing test procedures as directed, creating and maintaining test reports, maintaining test equipment. This role will also be responsible for inspecting, packing, and shipping samples to key customers.

 

So, what will you be doing as a(n) Testing Technician?

· Set up and conduct various furniture component tests according to pre-defined procedures or engineer instructions. Assist in developing new test methods for unique components.

· Collaborate with engineers to define testing parameters, interpret results, and identify areas for improvement.

· Monitor test progress, ensuring smooth operation and adherence to safety protocols. Collect and record accurate measurements throughout the testing process.

· Analyze test data and generate comprehensive lab reports, including test objectives, methodology, results, and recommendations. Reports will contain tables, graph, and other visual aid to help clearly communicate results. Reports will generally be saved and used for internal reference but may also be tailored for various customers by reformatting results to a specific customer's formatting.

· Assist with the production of test samples, ensuring they meet required specifications. Inspect test samples for any defects or inconsistencies that might affect test results.

· Assist with sample production, inspection, packing, and shipping.

· Operate and maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the test lab.

· Research, investigate, and drive cutting edge thinking to pursue industry innovative products, processes, and technology to take the department to the next level.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

· High school diploma

· 3+ years' experience as a test technician, or in quality control role - preferred

· Data collection and report writing

· Furniture mechanism assembly - preferred

· Hands on experience with air and electrically powered tools. Examples: drill, staple gun, nail gun, soldering electrical components

· Interpersonal and organizational skills

· Familiarity with various measurement tools. Examples: Tape measure, caliper, multimeter

· Data collection

· Reading comprehension

· Ability to work unsupervised.

· Ability to communicate testing progress and results to management and team members.

 

Things we consider a plus:

· Knowledge of quality standards for furniture components - preferred

· Ability to assemble and inspect furniture components - preferred.
