BorgWarner Inc. Senior Hardware Engineer in Beijing, China

Position Summary

As an Electrical Hardware Development Lead, you will be responsible for the development and release of Electronic Control Units (ECU) across multiple technologies that BW supplies to our customers. You will be responsible for providing technical leadership and coordination of the product over the full product development life cycle from concept to serial production.

As the Electrical Hardware Development lead you will create the technical specifications for the HW, which will be developed by a supplier. During the product development life cycle, technical as well as project coordination and communication skills are equally important for the project’s success. You will be main interface to customers and suppliers for both internal and external projects for all electrical hardware related topics. You will be responsible for ensuring HW deadlines, deliverables, and quality targets are achieved while adhering to product development processes and standards. In your daily work you will also interact with different roles and functions within the company like purchasing, sales, project management, SW and quality.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide project management and technical leadership of the electrical HW in the execution of customer programs and internal development projects.

  • Review, monitoring, and approval of ECU HW development and timing plans.

  • Development of HW specifications from customer and internal requirements.

  • Review and approval of supplier design.

  • Supplier planning, management, and oversight.

  • ECU prototype and production release process.

  • Review and approval of validation testing plan and report.

  • Technical customer contact for BorgWarner HW related topics.

  • Support internal departments (Quality, Mechanical, SW, Purchasing and sales).

  • HW compliance to customer specification.

  • Facilitate the investigation, root cause analysis, resolution development, and manage the closure of all relevant program/product issues in support of product development, production, line returns, warranty returns and service issues.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree, Master’s degree preferred.

  • Solid experience developing embedded systems; automotive and powertrain experience preferred.

  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication (verbal and written) skills.

  • Strong project planning and management throughout the complete Electronic Control Unit development life-cycle.

  • Candidate has experience in embedded electronics design.

  • Electronics detailed understanding (schematic, layout, component knowledge)

  • Electronics thermal management and electronics packaging

  • Motor drive electronics

  • Electronic system validation and verification lead (EMC, environmental and electrical)

  • Electronics production knowledge is preferred

  • Quality handling, 8D, APQP, and DFMEA is preferred.

  • Functional Safety (ISO26262) knowledge is preferred.

  • Proficient in English Language required.
