Job Description Summary

The Lead Electrical Engineer will have primary responsibility for conceptualizing, developing, delivering, and integrating the MR Patient Handling subsystem. This role involves almost all aspects of the electrical engineering discipline, including electrical design, mixed signal design, power supply, motor control and tuning solutions, and electromechanical interactions. The position will need to lead the new technology investigation, the platform concept definition, the practical design, and the verification/validation. And this role offers a unique opportunity to work in a cross-functional team on a complex integrated system.

The Global MR Patient Handling Platform Team at GE Healthcare designs and delivers the technology hardware implementation of the patient handling subsystem into all magnetic resonant imaging products. The team provides engineering design and development for all mechanical, electrical, and digital aspects of the MR patient handling subsystem, including thermal, acoustic, vibration, electronics packaging, table motion, table design, fluid management, and structural design. The team works closely with other hardware platform teams, systems engineering, software, and firmware to integrate and deliver solutions to help improve and enhance our products.

Job Description

Responsibility

  • Designing the following electrical components and interconnects: digital/analog circuits design, motor control and tuning solutions, and power supplies.

  • Lead technical design reviews for concept solutions, and detailed design and evaluation reviews with the global team.

  • Perform electrical part FMEAs, and reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability analyses.

  • Selecting hardware and material, assuring compliance with specifications and product requirements. Working with technology suppliers and cross-functional staff to optimize hardware designs.

  • Testing and verifying hardware to ensure that it meets specifications and requirements, including documentation and analysis of results.

  • Engaging in hardware lifecycle management, including solutions to obsolescence, verification of design solutions, improvement of manufacturing process, and cost out opportunities.

  • Engaging in all phases of new product introduction: concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support.

  • Working cross-functionally with engineering teams to understand system interactions and dependencies, accounting for these integration points within development plan.

  • Providing technical support to team throughout product development and implementation processes.

  • Conducting analyses of installed base and new product reliability using FMEA and DFR tools.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in related field, especially the design of large and complex systems.

  • Demonstrated technical depth in electrical design and mixed signal design.

  • Working experience with PWA/PWB/motor control and subsystem design techniques for signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC circuit design and simulation tool experience.

  • Capability on electrical design tools and simulation tools Cadence, MATLAB, PSPICE, etc.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin.

  • Strong sense of ownership, with an ability to work independently or in a team.

  • Ability to meet aggressive reliability, performance, cost, serviceability, and delivery targets.

Desired Characteristics

  • Influencing skills and ability to gain buy-in for initiatives.

  • Demonstrated technical leadership capability in integration activities.

  • Knowledge of UL/ETL/IEC standards and how they apply to medical device design.

  • Basic understanding of RF and/or power electronics.

  • Experience in medical device, automation, instrumentation, or telecommunication industries.
