THE OPPORTUNITY

Johnson & Johnson is responsible for bringing innovative medicines to patients around the world. Within J&J, E&PS FM is responsible for managing the facilities and utilities at all sites. In Belgium the scope of E&PS FM includes the sites in Beerse, Geel, Olen, La Louvière, Courcelles and Ghent.

Our sites in Beerse, Olen, Courcelles & La Louviere we are playing a crucial role in the J&J supply chain by producing and delivering medicines / products to patients every day.

The E&PS FM team manages the critical installations, facilities and utilities (steam, cooling installations, heating equipment, water systems, compressed air, high voltage, etc.) of/for the manufacturing and warehousing hubs. The main goal of the E&PS team is to ensure that the building and building systems are available 24/7 in a safe and compliant manner for the occupants and their activities.

To join, assist, support and lead the team, the EP&S FM team in Beerse is recruiting a senior facilities manager for the 2 production sites (Beerse/Olen) and our warehouses in Courcelles/La Louviere.

The position will be based in Beerse(Belgium), reporting into the DIRECTOR FM SUB REGIONAL LEAD EMEA. Close collaboration with several related departments and partners is indispensable for the functioning E&PS FM team.

Further responsibilities:

  • Mentor / lead a team of managers, engineers, planners, specialists, technicians and contractors who act all together as a team responsible for ensuring the 24/7 continuous operational readiness of our sites.

  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and our partners.

  • Final responsibility for the daily exploitation of facilities, utilities and energy systems linked to the 2 buildings in Beerse/Olen in close collaboration with the central utilities leader in Beerse.

  • Together with the manager of the team, act as the points of contact towards building users, quality, EHS², compliance and the entire E&PS organization.

  • System owner during start-up/construction phase of new projects and installation and liaison between business units and contractors during planning / construction as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with global Health Authority regulations / guidelines and internal operating procedures processes. Where required participate in Health Authority inspections and internal audits or ensure the team and the team’s activities are audit ready.

  • Participate in the implementation and maintenance of business continuity plans, emergency response plans and infrastructure management programs.

  • Be responsible for the long-range financial plan and annual site and maintenance budgets.

  • Solve all problems related to the installations and systems having an impact on safety, environment, sustainability, cost and reliability. Ensure compliance with local, federal and relevant international regulations (e.g. FDA, FAGG).

  • Establish a culture focused on professionalism and continuous improvement based on KPI’s, benchmarking and sharing best practices between sites and departments.

  • You are responsible for the employees who work within the team. You must provide an inclusive work environment where each person must be considered as an individual.

Qualifications

IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU

To be successful, you demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within a virtual matrix environment. Further requirements include:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, architecture, life sciences etc. or equivalent experience required.

  • Minimum of 5+ years facilities management experience in facilities, utilities and maintenance.

  • Experienced in GxP and quality management.

  • Strong personal leadership with demonstrated proficiency working with and within teams and strong relationship building skills are required.

  • Open minded and capable to implement best practices and technological renewal.

  • You are willing the join a ‘stand by’ schedule to provide services after hours that may need on site presence. 1 week every 6 to 8 weeks.

  • You are willing to accept peak loads that manifest themselves in long days and long weeks and this several times per year (the shutdowns).

  • You possess an outspoken ‘can do’ mentality.

  • You are highly communicative, both written and spoken.

  • Besides having a perfect command of Dutch, you speak and write English fluently.
