DESCRIPTION OF WORK This professional CRNP position will conduct outpatient psychiatric evaluations, establish diagnoses, develop plan of treatment, prescribe medication and/or testing as warranted, make referrals to other providers and/or community resources as needed.  Provide guidance and counseling to the consumer regarding the prescribed therapeutic measures.  Provide crisis assessments and intervention as necessary.  Provide psychiatric follow-up appointments to monitor clinical outcomes, determine effectiveness of treatment, medication management, and consult with family physicians as necessary.  Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare providers to assure continuity of care.  Provide outpatient clinical staff with a comprehensive report including a psychiatric diagnosis and treatment recommendations.  Initiate adjustments to treatment plan as needed.  Participate in discharge planning and make recommendations for continued follow-up treatment in other programs.  Assist with other nursing duties and perform physical examinations to include taking vital signs, assessing level of functioning, discussing reported medical conditions, assessing medication efficacy, addressing medication side effects, and discussing recovery approaches.  Ensures required documentation and paperwork is completed in a timely fashion.  Participates in trainings as required.  General supervision is received by the Bedford/Somerset Provider Manager.  Supervision of medically related activities will be provided by a psychiatrist.  Perform other related duties as required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and may vary at times. Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands or in the event of an emergency. Based upon operational need, the position may be required to provide services at any of the DBHS facilities located in Bedford, Somerset, and/or Windber. QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements: This position requires possession of a valid certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. This position requires possession of a valid CRNP certification in a Psychiatry/Mental Health specialty area issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Certain positions in this job are required to obtain and maintain valid CRNP Prescriptive Authority Approval to prescribe and dispense drugs as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position f lls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
