PCI Pharma Services Category Manager in Bedford, New Hampshire

The Category Manager will be accountable for approximately $200M in annual spend. In this role you will have responsibility for leading cross functional efforts to develop and implement category plans across both direct and indirect spend categories that include cost reductions initiatives, new product development, supply base optimization, quality and service improvement, risk management, contract negotiation, and supplier management across 5 sites globally for PCI’s Development & Manufacturing business segment. You will lead the development and implementation of strategies and goals for category management activities in support of the overall business segment objectives. You will formulate and implement processes to build a best-in-class category management organization. You are a resident expert in category management and procurement practices and serves as a mentor to others. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has built and implemented a category management framework and has proven experience negotiating and managing contracts across various spend categories.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned.

  1. Development and implementation of global category strategies to support portfolio (current and/or future) based on knowledge of global markets, suppliers, and competitive landscape.

  2. Generate accurate and insightful spend analysis presented in a way that adds value and drives clear action and ownership.

  3. Manage and negotiate supply agreements to drive lower costs, establish rebate programs and improve payment and delivery terms.

  4. Review supplier performance reports to achieve performance consistent with agreed requirements to insure consistency with quality, service, and delivery objectives.

  5. Ensure optimal partnerships that facilitate sustainable performance levels with suppliers through both formal programs and informal meetings.

  6. Eliminate barriers and resolve escalated procurement issues. Assertively champion a culture of continuous improvement within the Procurement department.

  7. Set goals to track KPI’s and measure results. Utilize data analytics to review supplier performance on KPI’s and drive continuous improvements.

  8. Support existing and new component purchases with the selection of the most capable, cost-effective suppliers to meet the material specifications.

  9. Drive Supplier Management to ensure the highest level of quality and service.

  10. Proactively manage procurement projects through prioritization and active communication.

  11. Be a liaison between suppliers, business units, and operations teams, to deal with material or service issues in a timely fashion.

  12. Develop strong relationships with all internal shareholders to maintain positive relations with peers and the site leadership teams to ensure key deliverables are met.

  13. This position may require travel to PCI facilities and/or supplier sites approximately 10% of the year.

  14. Ensure adherence to all company policies and processes.

  15. Performs other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the stated position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or 7-10 years related experience and/or training. Knowledge of Nonmetallic Mineral Products (Glass variations) is especially desirable.

  • College Level Mathematical Skills

  • Must be able to communicate (verbally, written, and visually) complex ideas in simple and compelling ways effectively, with the ability to influence others.

  • Demonstrated analytical thinking skills and the demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.

  • Very High Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

  • Willingness to Travel.

  • Proven track record of delivering and maintaining savings.

  • Knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications (MS Office, Smartsheet, SAP, Power BI) and skills to use them effectively.

  • Highly self-motivated team player who can work effectively with management, business unit personnel, and other stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence.

  • Effective project management skills

Preferred:

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • APICS and/or CPSM certification or willingness to work towards same

  • -Or-

  • An equivalent competency level acquired through a variation of these qualifications may be considered.

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

  • Ability to exhibit sound and accurate judgment.

  • Knowledge and experience with cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules.
