Location(s): McLean, VA or Bedford, MA

In Office Requirements: Hybrid onsite for 2 or 3 days per week.

Clearance Requirement: Students will be submitted for a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance

The Mission Enabled Software Systems Department provides technical impact and leadership across our many technical domains through the design, development, and deployment of healthy software solutions that address complex problems in areas such as national security, healthcare, and sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Actively participate in sponsor work programs at the tactical level by contributing to the development of comprehensive full-stack solutions.

  • Support internal research projects by designing and developing full-stack solutions

  • Collaborate with sponsors and project leaders to understand their needs and long-term objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an accredited degree seeking program in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related degree program and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.

  • "Hands-on" skills in at least one or more programming language

  • Exposure to software development tools and frameworks, including source control management tools (e.g., Git)

  • Familiarity with software development methodologies

  • Sustained excellence in academic performance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience having applied computer science learning to an internship or research/lab position.

  • Knowledge of software design patterns

  • Proficient knowledge in one or more languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, Java,

    C++ or C#).

  • Experience in different web frameworks, libraries and/or machine learning libraries

  • Knowledge of database technologies, including relational or NoSQL

  • Demonstrated interest in serving the public.

  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
