Department Summary:

The Agile Systems Design and Engineering Department (L1A1) applies design and systems engineering expertise to create solutions and environments that meet change with resilience, leading to rapid adaptation of new business needs, increased collaboration, reduced risk, and enhanced efficiency to address the priorities of our customers. With capabilities areas in Software-Intensive Engineering, Systems Engineering for AI and DevOps, Agile Transformation and Human Centered Design, we combine speed, technology, experimentation, and a customer-centered focus to help leaders and teams create the change they need to succeed in their mission and beyond.

Roles & Responsibilities:

You will provide thought leadership and problem solving for government customers in collaboration with stakeholders from private, federal, state and local sectors. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding and studying various problem domains, architecting solutions and delivering high quality distributed applications

  • Leading cross-functional teams to design, build and deploy automated systems that meet specific business needs

  • Play the role of a consultant to diverse stakeholders inside of MITRE and to Government sponsors and collaborate with a common goal of finding simple solutions to hard problems

  • Treats all challenges as opportunities to learn, excel and deliver state of the art solutions to solve nation’s problems

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience

  • Hands-on experience with architecting and automating cloud native technologies; provisioning IaC, IaaS, or SaaS; and deploying applications

  • Strong ability to communicate systems engineering concepts (Agile, DevOps, Digital Engineering, Platform services)

  • Experience in agile development methodologies and managing CI/CD workflows and tools

  • Understanding of scalable computing systems, software architecture, data structures, design patterns and algorithms

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to possess and maintain a DoD security clearance

  • Must have demonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal, written, presentation, and communications skills
