The Edinburg Center Senior Accounting Manager in Bedford, Massachusetts

Senior Accounting Manager

$80-$110K Annually

The Edinburg Center is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting functions for a $37 million agency and supervise a staff of four. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is responsible for accounting, financial reporting and billing activities for the organization. This position also works with the CFO for budgeting and planning, financial analysis and certain Treasury functions.

What you do:

  • Accounting Operations

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and month-end close processes.

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financi al transactions in compliance with GAAP principles and organizational policies .

  • Work closely with our Director of Revenue Cycle management to account for insurance billing and revenues.

  • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.

  • Mange government reporting and tax filings.

  • Internal Controls and Compliance

  • Supervise financial matters for approximately 150 clients.

  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements , particularly with regard to State contracts.

  • Oversee the coordination with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and promptly address any audit findings . Prepare required schedules and documentation as requested by auditor.

  • Stay updated on accounting standards and regulatory changes, proactively implementing updates to accounting policies and procedures .

  • Team Leadership and Development

  • Oversee A/P functions for the organization and individuals.

  • Mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team, providing hands-on guidance and support.

  • Facilitate cross training within department to ensure team depth.

  • Lead by example, actively engaging in accounting tasks alongside team members to maintain a cohesive and efficient workflow.

  • Financial Systems and Process Improvements

  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.

  • Partner with cross-functional team members to implement processes that effectively support the financial components of our programs.

  • Drive process improvements initiatives to optimize financial reporting accuracy and timeliness .

What you bring:

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as an Accounting Manager with responsibility for all accounting functions.

  • Strong accounting skills and supervisory experience

  • Experience with establishing and implementing automation tools

  • Proficiency in using a variety of software programs, including expertise in accounting software (knowledge of Acumatica accounting software is a plus) and proficient with Excel

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required), CPA preferred

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

  • Familiarity with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

  • Nonprofit and/or health care experience preferred

  • Familiarity with Massachusetts’ UFR requirements and EIM billing system preferred

  • Familiarity with Social Security Representative Payee regulations preferred
