WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Director, Business Innovation Capabilities within Global Sports Marketing Operations team. This role will head up a team responsible for fostering a culture of continuous learning and the development of performance management processes and tools specifically tied to sports marketing assets. They will provide opportunities for skill development, encourage innovation and creativity, and support the teams in overcoming performance challenges. Inclusive of evaluating the data and capabilities to make improvements across the function and services for teams and athletes across the globe, having a solid base in supply chain functions and operational key performance indicators will be key to this role. Relies on clear communication between staff and leadership, so it’s crucial to have a clear plan. Setting goals and figuring out ways to achieve them creates a framework for the teams to operate within and ensure everyone knows what to do to meet their respective goals. You will be the expert in connecting the dots across the enterprise for data sources, report development, and visualization. You are unconventionally curious, especially about how performance data tied to our assets can be used to optimize business opportunities, and you enjoy finding relationships between disparate data sets and clarity in a muddied data environment. You are competent in a variety of scripting languages, well-versed in automation techniques, and at home in a cloud-based big data environment. You also know how to rise above the numbers and story tell crucial insights to business users, and you instinctively minimize complexity to focus on results. You are excited by the challenge of building something from the ground up. You will use your experiences to build partnerships, prioritize the work portfolio, and sequence the work to deliver tools to the function. You will be on point to understand the sports marketing landscape and translate ideas into options—whether it be people, processes, or tools.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in strategic thinking, and iterative tool development, have strong communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional business partners to bring global business strategies to life.

  • This position will lead the development and execution of reporting and performance products to enable data-driven business decisions.

  • Document solutions to the business, translating complex functionality into business relevant language in a high-level visual way.

  • Leading the team in query development and data visualizations to fulfill ad-hoc analysis requests and ongoing reporting needs.

  • Develop frameworks for repeatable validation of data integrity within data products supporting accurate and consistent reporting. Data governance will be key in this space.

  • Drive adoption of and socialize the data products with end users through user training.

  • Support standard methodologies in reporting and analysis: data integrity, unit testing, data quality control, system integration testing, modeling, validation, and documentation.

  • Monitor and solve operational or data issues in the data pipelines.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree or an additional +8 years of additional progressive-related experience.

  • Minimum 6-8 years of directly demonstrable experience in analytics and report development.

  • Experience in building and driving strategy, while shepherding the work.

  • Expertise in SQL.

  • Deep experience analyzing large structured and unstructured datasets.

  • Solid understanding of various database management systems like Oracle, MySQL, Teradata, Netezza, SQL Server, or DB2.

  • Consistent track record in working on cross-functional teams.

  • Extensive experience communicating analysis results and subsequent impact to technical/non-technical audiences in both verbal and written form.

  • Working understanding of the best design and implementation practices in data visualization tools such as Tableau, IBM Cognos, MicroStrategy, PowerBI or QlikView.

  • Proficiency with cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, AWS, and Databricks.

  • Able to quickly pick up new programming languages, technologies, and frameworks.

  • Excellent collaboration and relationship management, and confidence and proficiency in addressing partner audiences across all levels.

  • Proven track record of responding to and prioritizing changing demands effectively.
