Position Purpose:

Responsible for integrating computerized process control and information systems, for ensuring reliability and security, and providing reporting capability to meet the conditions of the operating permit. Serves as a technical resource for training, formatting reports, and reviewing operative data.

Primary Duties/responsibilities:

  • Develops and integrates software systems to achieve site requirements for process control, waste tracking, MIS, achievement of burn plan objectives, process optimization and compliance reporting.

  • Insures process control system reliability through a detailed working knowledge of the hardware and software of the Taylor DCS and several PLC controllers.

  • Improves process efficiency and achieves cost reductions by debugging, modifying and streamlining process control programming, while remaining within permitted operating limits at all times.

  • Maintains current records of documentation and backup for all programming activities.

  • Provides analytical and specialized administrative support, troubleshooting and coordination activities of a non-routine nature.

  • Reviews operating data and alerts management of discrepancies which may either be process or computer related.

  • Provides security of both the computer software and database to prevent unauthorized disclosure of information or tampering which may threaten plant safety, reliability, or compliance with the conditions of the operating permit.

  • Coordinates and participates in user training process.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science required

  • 8 to 10 years of hazardous waste experience preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise and understanding of distributed control system (DCS) architecture and demonstrated skills configuring , documenting and troubleshooting.

  • Experience championing and implementing in systems capabilities in a plant environment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation systems and electrical infrastructure.

  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines

  • Fundamental understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and High Hazard Processes is a plus.

  • Experience with process control and instrumentation tuning.
