Job Summary/Basic Function
About This Role:
The video coordinator works collaboratively with supervisors, peers, and campus partners to produce compelling videos, photos and digital content meeting specific project objectives and aligning cohesively with Lamar University’s and Lamar University athletics mission.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics Marketing this position ensures all videos, photos and digital content meet quality and content standards and are rendered appropriately for viewing on various university sites, channels, and formats. Production schedules may include some night and weekend shoots.
What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities
Takes high quality digital photographs and video footage, as requested, to meet the university’s and athletics needs
Collaborates with athletics departments and other campus staff on stories, event coverage and other internally generated initiatives that require videos, photos and digital media and fulfills those requirements with high-quality work on time
Creates original storytelling ideas meeting the athletics department’s mission and seeing them through approval, planning, production and completion
Manages a library of video clips and photographs for athletics content
Assists with special projects in the Department of Marketing Communications and Athletics as needed
Creates videos for Lamar University athletics social media and websites.
Key Competencies:
Must have a valid driver’s license, have proof of insurance, and comply with all university safe driving and parking procedures
Must be willing to work some nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to work with other video departments on campus when necessary
Ability to fly a drone
Higher education experience preferred
Proficiency in motion graphics and animation a plus
Physical Requirements:
Moderate physical activity.
Can require handling objects of average weight up to 20 lbs. or standing and/walking for more than 4 hours per day.
Willingness to work flexible schedule, which may include evening and weekend hours as required and emergency management and/or crisis management.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment.
Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
Moving about accomplishing tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
Communication with others to exchange information.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as: communication, broadcasting, or film
Minimum of two years’ experience working on deadline-oriented video productions, preferably in a journalism or marketing environment
Knowledge of photo and video equipment as well as digital imaging technology, techniques, methods, and formats
Video skills must include video production and post-production skills, including hands-on filming, lighting, audio, and color adjusting, editing, and exporting.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent editing software
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully, working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
