As a Senior Technician for BASF’s Process Catalysis Scale-Up North America group, you will be responsible for operating lab/pilot equipment and conducting lab/pilot scale experiments through routine and non-routine procedures for the support of research, development, and production activities and ensure that all equipment is in safe working order.

During your Mon-Fri 8h day shift as a Senior Technician, you will

• Accurately prepare and document the experiment conditions and equipment configuration, daily test results, and communicate the results to the supervisor.

• Perform necessary mathematical calculations with results frequently requiring additional interpretation.

• Contribute to experiment planning and scheduling in cooperation with the supervisor.

• Enter and follow-up on maintenance and repair work orders of pilot equipment and instrumentation to ensure that all equipment and instrumentation are in safe working order.

• Keep inventory of raw materials and products and notifie the supervisor when raw materials are short supplied. Ship and receive of raw materials and products.

• Identify any hazards and participate in EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) programs, reporting incidents and near misses. Take ownership of a determined area for housekeeping.

If you...

• Have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Material Science with no experience OR a high school education with 2 years of college in a related scientific discipline plus 5 years laboratory experience OR a high school education with 7 years of laboratory experience.

• Have basic proficiency in working with laboratory equipment, tools, tubing, and other related process equipment.

• Have mechanical ability, which is critical to position (i.e. able to operate, repair, maintain, order, and troubleshoot pilot equipment).

• Are able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

• Have experience with pilot processing equipment, which is highly desired, including extrusion, tablet press, grinding, spray dryer, stirred tank, drying and calcining equipment and autoclaves.

• Have basic proficiency in Chemistry, with strict adherence to established safety standards required.

• Are proficiency in MS Office software.
