Atlantic Health System Patient Care Technician I, Full Time, Gastroenterology, Bayonne in Bayonne, New Jersey
A patient care technician (PCT) is a healthcare professional who works under the supervision of a doctor, nurse, or other health professional to provide basic care to patients in a medical facility. PCTs interact with patients face-to-face and assist with daily tasks, such as:
Principal Accountabilities:
1.Vital signs: Measure vital signs, such as heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, and respiratory rate.
2.Prepare exam rooms, which includes disposing of contaminated supplies, sterilizing medical tools, restocking equipment, and arranging instruments.
3.Take medical histories, explain treatment procedures, and instruct patients about medication and special diets.
4.Prepare and administer medications, including injections, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider.
5.Greet patients, answer phones, schedule appointments, check in and out patients.
Required:
HS Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Successful completion of PCT /CMA training program with certification. CPR certified.
Preferred:
Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
Patient, compassionate nature
Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses
Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems
