Bayfield Marshal's Office Deputy Marshal (Police Officer) in Bayfield, Colorado

The Town of Bayfield/the Bayfield Marshal's Office is currently accepting applications for Deputy Marshal.

The duties include but are not limited to patrol, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement & related law enforcement activities. Deputies work in partnership with the community to identify & resolve issues, provide public safety to the community, maintain peace, safety & order. Job Requirements

Candidates must be Must be 21 or over and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience is preferred but not necessary. Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a Colorado driver's license by the date of hire. Colorado POST certification is preferred but not required.

To be considered, the applicant must not have a felony on their record or any crime of violence, specifically assaults or domestic violence, or any misdemeanor crime that would affect ability to certify with the Colorado Peace Officer (POST) board.

Applicants must have the knowledge and skills in operating computer systems, all standard law enforcement equipment, clear and concise speech and be able to handle several tasks simultaneously.

Hiring Process

The hiring process includes a written exam with a minimum passing score of 70% on math, reading, spelling, grammar and writing.

A physical assessment including a one mile run, sit-ups and pushups.

An oral board interview, integrity interview, extensive background check, physical examination and pre-employment drug screen.

Starting pay is $25.15 to $30.49 per hour depending on experience

Deputies work 3-12 hour and 4-11 hour shifts rotating every three months.

Deputies receive an average of 100 hours of training per year

Patrol uniforms and duty gear provided

In most cases, a take home patrol vehicle

Depending on the employee's health, dental and vision plan selection, the Town of Bayfield covers 65-100% of the employee and dependent insurance premium.

FPPA Retirement, Death and Disability: Employee contributes 12%-1.6% of gross total wages and the Town currently contributes 9.5%-1.6%

Deputies carry their own department approved firearm.

Eleven paid holidays per year with a proposal to increase paid holidays in 2023

Paid overtime and on call time

Vacation and Sick paid time with a proposal to consider PTO hours in 2023
