Nature of Work

The Instructional Administrative Specialist supports the principal in administrative tasks and provides direct instructional support to teachers, enhancing teaching quality and student achievement. This position plays a key role in maintaining efficient school operations, fostering a collaborative culture, and promoting effective instructional practices that align with the districts educational goals. The Instructional Administrative Specialist will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by enhancing instructional practices and supporting a positive, student-centered school environment.

Education and Experience
  • Minimum of Bachelors degree from regionally accredited college/university, Masters in Administration is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience; experience in educational administration or teacher leadership preferred
Certification and Licensure Requirements (if applicable):
  • Must hold a valid North Carolina Professional Educator's License
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks

Administrative Support to the Principal:

Assist in School Operations:

    • Support the principal in managing day-to-day school operations, including student scheduling, data management, and school-wide communications.
    • Oversee school facilities and resources to ensure that teachers have what they need for instruction.

*Data and Reporting: *

    • Collect and analyze student performance and behavioral data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Prepare regular reports on student achievement, attendance, and other critical metrics for administrative review.
    • Assist in tracking the progress of school-wide goals and action plans.

*Teacher Observations and Feedback: *

    • Conduct informal classroom walkthroughs to gather insights on instructional strategies and classroom management.
    • Provide feedback to teachers, in consultation with the principal, focusing on instructional improvement and student engagement.

*Compliance and Documentation: *

    • Ensure that all documentation related to compliance, student records, and policy adherence is up-to-date.
    • Assist in maintaining accurate student files and supporting records for audits and reviews.

Instructional Support for Teachers:

*Professional Development: *

    • Collaborate with the principal to plan, organize, and deliver professional development sessions tailored to teachers instructional needs.
    • Provide ongoing coaching, resources, and support to teachers, with an emphasis on effective instructional practices and classroom management.

Curriculum Alignment and Resource Allocation:

    • Assist teachers in aligning lesson plans and instructional activities with district standards and school goals.
    • Recommend instructional materials and resources that enhance student learning and help teachers meet diverse learning needs.

*Classroom Interventions: *

    • Collaborate with teachers to develop strategies and interventions for students struggling academically or behaviorally.
    • Help facilitate small group instruction, co-teaching sessions, or targeted intervention programs to support differentiated learning.

Collaborative Planning:

    • Facilitate team meetings or PLCs to encourage collaborative lesson planning, data analysis, and sharing of best practices among teachers.
    • Support teachers in using data-driven approaches to refine inst uction and monitor student progress.

School Culture and Community Engagement:

*School-Wide Initiatives: *

    • Promote a positive school climate by supporting school-wide programs, such as character education, anti-bullying, and social-emotional learning.
    • Coordinate school events, celebrations, and recognition programs for students and staff.

*Family and Community Outreach: *

    • Assist the principal in fostering strong family-school relationships by coordinating parent workshops, informational sessions, and community outreach events.
    • Act as a liaison for parents, communicating academic updates, school news, and student progress as needed.

Behavioral Support:

    • Work with teachers to implement positive behavior support strategies in classrooms.
    • Coordinate with school counselors and support staff on behavioral interventions, crisis management, and support services for students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Instructional Leadership: Knowledge of curriculum standards, instructional methods and teacher coaching.

Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to analyze and interpret data to inform school and classroom practices.
