The Children’s Services of ACLD provides a continuum of services to children from ages three to twenty-one in their pre-school and after-school programs. We currently have an opportunity for a Curriculum Coordinator to join our Bay Shore Facility. In this role, you will s upport classroom education staff to refine their practices, improve instructional quality and achieve mastery as early childhood professionals.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Special Education.

  • NYS Teacher Certification in Special Education.

  • Educational Leadership – School Building Leader (SBL) Certificate or enrolled in an Educational Leadership – School Building Leader (SBL) Certificate program which must be completed within two years of hire.

  • Five years experience in a pre-school special education setting.

  • Two years experience mentoring, supervising and training staff.

  • Extensive knowledge of various disabilities and treatment approaches and early childhood development.

  • Ability to provide ongoing coaching and strategies for implementation of various technologies that support classroom instruction.

  • Ability to create and organize teaching supports for classrooms.

  • Oversight and placement of Student Teachers within the program.

  • Bilingual preferred.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Ability

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to express verbal and written ideas in a clear and concise manner.

  • Computer competencies in the areas of MS Outlook, word processing, spreadsheets, and Power Point.

  • Excellent planning and management skills.

Essential Functions

  • Provide mentoring and training for new and current Special Educators .

  • Provide supervision, mentoring and training to all Teacher Assistants and Teacher Aides in conjunction with Preschool Teachers, Assistant Principals and Principal.

  • Manage program implementation of selected curriculum, assessment tool and any supplemental materials .

  • Align program practices and standards to support quality implementation.

  • Provide support to classroom education staff in creating lesson plans that are reflective of the curriculum and are developmentally appropriate.

  • Review lesson plans and provide teachers with timely feedback and recommendations.

  • Assist in the de velopment and implementation of classroom routines, zone defense strategies and the provision of structured teaching supports.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities including workshops and conferences to bring new and emerging best practices into the program.

  • Plan and coordinate building wide curriculum extension activities.

  • Other duties, as assigned

Non-Essential Functions

  • Oversee school wide curriculum activities.

  • Coordinate monthly family activities with the teachers.

  • Liaison to the Parent Staff Association including events and fundraising.

    Schedule Monday through Friday 8am-3:30pm , 35 hours per week
