JOB TITLE: Purchasing Agent II
RATE OF PAY: $47,112.00 per year entry, progressing to $53,726.40 per year after 3 years (PB05)

This is a full-time position with benefits as provided for within the BCAMPS labor agreement, although union membership is voluntary. Position may require occasional evenings and weekends in addition to the normal business day office hours.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Serves as a procurement official for the county. Reviews, oversees and processes purchase requisitions. Will assist departments in the placement of purchases. Will furnish information, answer questions and track compliance regarding the county's Purchasing Policy. Will provide vendors information regarding what products and services the county purchases. Gathers, compiles, processes and analyzes cost data. Evaluates vendors and products. Provides recommendations to the Finance Officer. Supervision is general to direct on specific task assignments and is received from the Finance Officer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage projects beginning with the requisition step working closely with other departments.
Actively works with vendors in the purchase process to provide timelines and work with staff on scheduling and coordinating with vendors.
Provides support and training for users in the County utilizing various software applications.
Monitoring of time for cost allocation.
Reporting of activity and time for departments.
Actively involved in supporting departments as necessary utilizing automation and paperless solutions when possible.
May assist in the administration of the County's Procurement (Credit) Card program, cell phone, etc.
Provide excellent customer service.
Punctual and consistent in person attendance is required.
All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's degree in related field is required. Experience working with a large group of end users with varying degrees of experience is a must. A minimum of one year of relevant experience. Proficient in various technology platforms including Microsoft Office. Excellent communications skills are essential. Testing may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (With or without reasonable accommodations):
This position involves sitting most of the time and/or being mobile or standing for brief periods of time. Additional requirements include the ability to move objects according to the following weight & frequency: generally, 10 pounds of force up to one third of the time. Valid Michigan operator's license required.
