Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Practical Nursing Instructor. The Practical Nursing Instructor is located in the Division of Nursing and Allied Health Services. This is a full-time position. This position is open for recruitment.

COMPENSATION:

Certifications/ Licenses Required:
- Each nurse faculty member shall hold a current, valid license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Louisiana as well as current CPRPR
Required Experience
- A nurse instructor shall be a registered nurse with a minimum of three years of nursing experience. At least one of these three years must have been as a medical-surgical hospital staff nurse providing direct patient care. An applicant for nurse instructor must have practiced as a nurse for a minimum of six full-time months during the three years immediately preceding application.

Specialty Nurse Instructors -experience in one of the clinical specialty areas (maternity, neonatal, pediatric, mental health) must have a minimum of four years of clinical experience in the specific specialty area.
Certifications/Licenses Preferred:
- Each nurse faculty member shall hold a current, valid license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Louisiana as well as current CPR
Job Concepts
Nursing faculty members are responsible for teaching theory, lab and clinical courses assigned, student advising, college service, professional development, and promoting of a collegial atmosphere. Faculty are expected to support the institution's mission and vision and abide by the Faculty Handbook and college-wide policies.
40% Teaching
- Prepares, provides and coordinates learning experiences in accordance with learning objectives and students' needs and abilities.
35% Teaching and preparations
Utilizes learning resources including lab to help students learn.
Assesses student learning in accordance with college and department policy.
Maintains a minimum of 10 office hours per week.
Meets all scheduled classes within the appropriate timeframe.
Advises students and assist with registration, orientation, and recruitment as needed.
Follows the approved master course syllabi.
Maintains LMS for courses assigned with syllabi, course plan/schedule, accurate grade and attendance records.
Submits syllabi, office hours, grades, attendance, electronic timesheets, and other reports by established deadlines.
10% Administrative
Notifies program director/manager of absence with course substitution plan in a timely manner
Attends all departmental, division, and general faculty meetings
Attends convocations and participate in graduation exercise (attired in appropriate academic regalia)
Adheres to professional standards of conduct
Participates in the faculty evaluation process

Contributes to the college and discipline by collaborating with others and offering your service to the college
Engages in continual professional development activities as it relates to pedagogy, assessment, and faculty area expertise.
