The individual duties of the inspector are to be responsible for the inspection of all materials and products both fabricated and purchased to a specific code, specification, standard and/or tolerance for acceptance criteria. The candidate for this position must be a self-starter capable of working alone, yet when required to work well with others. The job requires an individual willing to champion quality by challenging those who would compromise the standards. The individual must be fair minded and impartial in the execution of his/her duties. The person filling this position must be able to earn the respect of their fellow employees. This position requires visual inspection of workmanship (finished welds and paint), therefore the person must have reasonably good eyesight. This position requires that a person must be able to read, understand, and interpret the quality assurance standard, shop drawings and inspection criterion for the receiving, storage, fabrication and loading of materials/products. The candidate must demonstrate their ability to use a wide range of measuring instruments to inspect a diverse group of products and materials for dimensional accuracy. This would include but not be limited to length, width, height, hole location and diameter, bendline angle and radius; as well as location of clips, brackets and other sub-assemblies. Individual must be able to perform administrative duties such as quantifying inspection results and maintain material traceability where needed. Skill in welding or fitting not required but may be very helpful to candidate. Pay will depend upon experience.
