Job Title : Lead Veterinary Surgeon
Salary : Up to £70,000 per annum (D.O.E.)
Location : Cherrydown Vets, Basildon
Job Type : Permanent, Full-time
Hours :40 hours per week with a 1:3 Saturday rota, and no OOH
We are expanding our team here at Cherrydown Vets and we are looking for an experienced Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join us in a new role.
As a Lead Vet, you will have line management responsibilities for the vet team, so experience in leading is crucial. You will also be pivotal in improving clinical outcomes and working to improve Clinical governance through evidence-based medicine. We are looking for someone with surgical experience, who can happily consult and also support teams to manage complex clinical cases.
You will work closely with the Clinical Director and experienced senior leadership team to deliver the best for our clients and their pets. In return, we offer a great range of clinical equipment, a large hospital building with multiple theatres, and a separate dental and imaging suite. We have a dedicated and supportive team of nurses who thrive on utilising their clinical skillset to support our vets, and regularly complete Schedule 3 procedures and nurse consults.
Our admin and client care teams lead the front of the house, allowing our clinical teams to be with the patients. We have a dedicated pharmacy area and team which completes the dispensing tasks.

About us
Cherrydown Vets are a progressive, forward-thinking, premium veterinary group with an excellent reputation thanks to our 60 Vets, Nurses, Patient Care Assistants (PCA), Receptionists and support staff. We are based across three sites which include the main hospital, Basildon, and two practices in Stanford and Wickford, serving as preventative clinics.
