Kelly Services QC Assistant Manager in Bartlett, Illinois

Kelly Science has an immediate opening for a Quality Control Assistant Manager for our growing client near St. Charles, IL

Full-time

Direct-Hire

Mon-Fri 8am-5pm

Salary: $80,000-$95,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with customer requirements, USDA and FDA regulations, GMPs, HACCP, and all food safety and sanitation policies.

  • Monitor pest control program and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Participate in investigation and resolution of customer complaints and product rejection incidents.

  • Perform lab analysis and evaluate results, trending the data for finished products.

  • Maintain updated documentation of raw materials suppliers and prepare specifications.

  • Coordinate with raw materials suppliers to address non-conformities and implement corrective actions.

  • Manage raw materials, finished products, and environmental test analysis plans.

  • Maintain communication with external labs.

  • Collaborate with Quality Systems Manager to update finished product specifications.

  • Conduct pre-shipment reviews and implement positive release procedures.

  • Manage hold and release processes.

  • Supervise the QC team, providing training to both QC and production staff.

  • Conduct monthly reviews of quality issues and Right First Time (RFT) metrics.

  • Oversee shelf life trials and industrial trials.

  • Address daily production issues.

  • Manage pest control activities.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related science field.

  • 5-10 years of experience in quality control within food manufacturing.

  • HACCP Certification.

  • Proficiency in basic principles of microbiology, biochemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to multitask, demonstrate leadership, and work effectively in a team.

  • Organizational skills to manage tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Mathematical aptitude with analytical proficiency.

  • Excellent professional communication skills.
