This role performs diagnostic radiographic procedures within the clinic setting and will be required to assist with patient immobilization during radiographic procedures as needed; will give input on purchasing decisions, departmental policies and quality improvement; will be involved in the practice of radiation and general safety at all times. This role will also perform basic laboratory functions including specimen processing, customer service, and data entry procedures in support of the hospital's mission of patient care. Collect, process, store and transport blood, body fluids and tissue specimens. Perform clerical functions such as faxing, copying and mailing of reports and answering the phones professionally. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Completion of an Accredited Radiography School. 3. Registered by the ARRT or pass the next available exam. 4. Must have fulfilled, and continue to fulfill, ECE requirements as set forth by the ARRT. 5. Must have a current West Virginia Radiologic Technologist License. 6. Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire. 7. West Virginia Point of Care Technician (PoC) License within 90 days of hire. PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Phlebotomy Certification (CPT). EXPERIENCE: 1. Six (6) months of Phlebotomy, Lab Assistant or Cytopreparatory experience. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Produces images of optimal quality by using imaging equipment and systems in the provision of image delivery and archiving. 2. Maintains an expertise in anatomy, physiology, and pathology relative to imaging in order to optimize the procedure and ensure patient care / safety. 3. Makes CD's for patient exams. 4. Operates phone system, Radiology Information System and PACS system as needed. 5. Modifies and delivers care that is specific to the age and growth development of the patient. 6. Prepares room, equipment, materials as needed for patient exams, including sterile technique; cleans and disinfects rooms and equipment following each patient/exam, using current infection control protocols. 7. Performs examinations per physicians' orders and explains procedure to the patients. Relays patient history and clinical data to the radiologist. 8. Observes, reports, and documents any unusual occurrences or changes in equipment and/or patients' condition; provides information and documentation to assist in all quality improvement activities; assesses equipment function and inventory. 9. Documents variances such as repeat film rates and other such occurrences; practices safe radiation exposure and protection as well as general safety for patients, visitors, and staff at all times. 10. Maintains and stocks supplies, performs general office duties; properly labels film and follows prescribed techniques to assure acceptable quality and consistency. 11. Prepare specimens in order to perform basic diagnostic procedures designed to contribute to accurate reproducible patient results. 12.
