Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer II in Barcelona, Spain

The Bing Places Data team is looking for a Software Engineer II to help us deliver the best possible Bing location search experience for the United States and other global markets.

Specifically, the scope of this position includes building pipelines and tools to collect and process Local business data from various sources; designing and implementing metrics and measurement pipeline that provide insights on data quality; and experimenting with various data collecting and processing strategies including web mining, crowd sourcing, and AI to achieve best data quality.

This position will allow you to learn more about how Search works and understand Maps & Bing’s technology stack end-to-end. You will develop deep expertise in web-scale distributed processing, machine learning, data analytics and big data, and you will have the opportunity to partner with multiple engineering and research teams to leverage the latest Microsoft and industry research.

Responsibilities

  • Design, coding, and shipping of high quality products and services.

  • Work with program & product management to contribute to product roadmaps and new service definitions.

  • Own a set of services & tools and support customers with new feature requests and operational issues.

  • Drive a high quality bar in terms of code quality, test driven development, daily builds and automated runtime monitoring & alerts.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND relevant technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.

  • Significant professional development experience in designing, developing and shipping high quality software products

  • Professional development experience in building & operating online services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in machine learning, data mining, web mining, statistics, business intelligence/customer intelligence, user modeling, information retrieval.

  • Bias for action and track record of delivering results while dealing with ambiguity
