Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Licensed Master Social Worker in Baraga, Michigan
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a professional Social Worker, providing clinical and therapeutic mental health services to adults,
youth and children, such as: direct patient care, mental health, patient and general health behavior and
compliance, substance and chemical abuse, family conflict (domestic violence, maternal and child health
and child welfare), socioeconomic-induced depression and stress.
- Cultivates positive relationships with and maintain an environment of collaboration/integration at all levels of the organization. Participate in facility wide activities related to Behavioral Health.
- Professionally represents the department internally and within the external community, at all times.
- Attends and completes mandatory trainings required by KBIC Health System and other trainings offered by Indian Health Services.
- Facilitates and advocates a service plan for individuals who present as at-risk/suicidal.
- Assists with creating a component for the promotion and maintenance of health and mental health provision of preventative, remedial and rehabilitative measures within KBIC Health System.
- Assists in the administration of the Behavioral Health Department; participates in the establishment of policy; assists in program planning, case management meetings with staff of KBIC Health System, and establishment of standards of practice.
- Independently formulates treatment plans.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relations with community agencies, schools and courts.
- Charts client files within KBIC Health System's electronic health record for billing, in a timely manner, in accordance with written DHHS procedure.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
- Therapeutic processes and counseling techniques.
- The characteristics and social aspects of mental and emotional disturbances, developmental disorders, and historical trauma. Education and/or experience with sexual abuse, stress, anger management, marriage and family therapy.
- Principles, procedures, techniques, trends and literature of social work.
- Various areas of social work, including group work, community organization, consultation, education and research.
- Scope and activities of public and private health and welfare agencies and community organizations.
- Basic sciences underlying social work.
- Mental health education and in-service training techniques.
- Current trends in mental hygiene, public health and public welfare, and federal and state programs in these fields.
Program planning and evaluation.
Abilities:
To establish and maintain the confidence and cooperation of others.
Formulate individual treatment plans.
Coordinate and provide clinical consultation to patients in restrictive settings (i.e.: children in foster care; adults in adult foster care settings, employment).
Plan a clinical program.
Provide consultation for other discipline providers.
Integrate the program with that of other disciplines.
Write and speak effectively.
LMSW - Must complete 45 hours of Board-approved continuing education with at least five (5) contact hours in ethics, and two (2) contact hours in pain and pain symptom management. Note: Continuing education contact hours in pain and pain symptom management may include, but are not limited to courses in behavior management, the psychology of pain, behavior modification, and stress management.
Submission of the renewal application and fee is considered a statement that the CE requirement has been met.
Failure to complete the CE requirement is considered a violation of the Public Health
