Cook. 8 temp, full-time positions. 04/01/2025 to 01/01/2026. The Slaked Whale, LLCDBA Thirsty Whale Tavern located at40 Cottage Street, Bar Harbor, Maine 04609. Email: thirstywhalebarharbor@gmail.com. Duties: Job requires frying food, grilling meat and fish to proper temperatures. Job includes but is not limited to: cutting fish, pounding chicken, cutting vegetables, prepping bread for sandwiches, making salads and sauces. Filtering oil. Opening and closing the kitchen. Clean up at the end of night shift. General cleaning duties and assistance throughout the shift as needed. 35 hrs/week. Varying number of hours per workday depending on shift. Mon-Sun 4pm-11 or 11:30pm; Days off vary. 10 hours of OT possible. No minimum education required. 12 months experience required. Wage: \$17.13/hr; OT Wage: \$25.70/hr. Workers paid weekly. Housing Assistance: Optional board/lodging available at a cost to be deducted from pay if elected. Cost of housing: \$100-\$150/week (depending on the room). Price includes WiFi; utilities; and free washers and dryer. \$100 Security Deposit to be returned upon leaving as long as there is no damage and keys are returned. On the job training provided. Raises and/or bonuses may be offered to any worker in the specified occupation, at the companys sole discretion, based on individual factors including work performance, skill and tenure. Single workweek will be used to compute wages due. All deductions from the workers paycheck required by law will be made. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for workers reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a workers voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence provided at a rate of at least \$15.88/day during travel to a maximum of \$59/day with receipts. H2B Workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (except passport fees). Employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job, and guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of total employment period.
