A Day in The Life of a Warehouse Associate/Class C CDL Driver

As a Warehouse Associate you will be responsible for performing warehouse tasks including receiving, picking, packing, shipping, wire cutting, light assembly, as well as general maintenance of assigned areas. As a back up CDL Truck Driver you would be responsible for transporting cargo to and from specified destinations driving a 16' box truck. You will prepare, receive, and provide appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick-up of goods to ensure timely service. * Must have a "satisfactory" driving record. Must have Class C CDL Classification/Certification. Requires applicable truck driver license for state.

  • Complete log sheets and handle inbound shipments

  • Verify supplier returns and enter order receipts

  • Relocate and consolidate material

  • Prepare and assemble packing lists

  • Pack, label, wrap, and load outbound trucks

  • Drive a truck with capacity up to three tons and usually six wheels to transport materials

  • Load, secure, verify, and unload cargo

  • Prepare delivery schedule

  • Deliver materials to locations designated by the customer

  • Obtain customer’s signature for proof of delivery and help to unload truck

  • Perform the duties of Warehouse Associate when not driving the truck and making deliveries

Education & Experience

  • High school degree or equivalent preferred

  • Must have a valid Class C CDL license

  • 2 years required of truck driving experience

  • 1 year of warehouse operations experience preferred

Skills & Requirements

  • Basic computer skills preferred

  • Basic problem-solving skills

  • Vision - near, far, night

  • Ability to detect or tell differences between sounds varying in pitch and loudness

  • Ability to quickly respond (with hand, finger, foot) to signals (sound, light, picture) when it appears

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to be on your feet for extended periods

  • Willingness to operate warehouse equipment, including power equipment
