Job Description:
The Assistant Technician is technical services work in performing difficult technical engineering support duties in a variety of field and office engineering specialties in MaineDOT’s Region 4 office.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Preliminary aspects of land acquisition for highway right of way purposes, and,
Performing routine engineering, construction inspection and field-testing activities in order to ensure projects are constructed according to the plans and specifications,
Winter duties may include assisting higher-level technicians in estimating quantities and preparing contract packages for moderately complex construction projects.
Supervision may be exercised over a small group of semi-skilled personnel in the performance of moderately difficult engineering support tasks.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
Three (3) years of experience in engineering or a related technical field–OR- an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering.
