Amazon Software Development Manager, Ring in Bangalore, India

Description

As a Software Development Manager, you will be owning a platform core software charter, defining the goals, building a team, and leading the team to deliver the goals.

You will be working in a fast-paced startup kind of environment requiring high velocity decision making. You will be effectively partnering and influencing the stakeholders and communicating with senior leaders toward Ring’s mission. You will be raising the customer experience bar as we invent rapidly on behalf of our millions of customers.

Key job responsibilities

You will be the STO for a Ring platform core software providing safety to millions of customers with innovative technology.

You communicate effectively (both oral and written) with senior leaders and stakeholders cutting across the geographies and functions.

You will be defining the goals and setting the direction for the team.

You will be adept with architecture and technologies and be a hands-on manager.

You will be developing an young org of engineers and establishing mechanisms to deliver safety for our neighbourhoods.

You are able to decompose complex problems into straight-forward solutions. You consistently bring strong, data-driven business, and technical judgment to decisions. You set the standards.

As a leader, you take the time to grow successful senior engineers and engineers through collaborative development planning, coaching, and project assignment.

You champion software engineering and operational excellence best practices in your team and influence other teams in larger Ring organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Experience managing projects and development teams in an Agile environment

  • Experience in developing and managing device software teams

  • Experience in hiring and developing SDEs, and leading development teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in designing and developing firmware and applications on devices.

  • Experience in C, RTOS, embedded programming, battery management, and connectivity (Wifi, BLE).
