Reinsurance Solutions Analytics offers clients industry-leading Catastrophe Management, Impact Forecasting, Rating Agency Practice, Product Development and Research, Actuarial & ReMetrica support.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

Aon Impact Forecasting (IF) is looking for Research Scientist to develop earthquake catastrophe models for insurance/reinsurance purposes in Asia. The comprehensive loss assessment and testing will include primary (earthquake) and secondary perils such as tsunamis, liquefaction, landslides, and fire-following earthquakes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develop all model components with emphasis on hazard and vulnerability component

  • Model implementation, validation, calibration and testing

  • Coordinate cooperation with scientific partners from local and international research institutions

  • Communicate and present the model outputs to other Aon departments such as the cat management team, brokers etc.

  • Deliver external presentations to clients and at conferences

  • Bring innovation whilst understanding the requirements/limitations of the practices of the team

  • Be part of the development team and be able to coordinate tasks with other members

  • Collaborate with other team members from different offices worldwide

  • Use Impact Forecasting in-house software packages

  • Technical background in catastrophe loss modelling concepts with multiyear practical experience

  • Experience in catastrophe model evaluation and testing

  • Strong quantitative and analytical background, programming experience with a focus on data analytics (e.g. SQL, python)

  • Excellent knowledge of GIS and GIS tools (e.g. QGIS/ArcGIS)

    SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED :

  • Proficiency in the use of MS-office

  • Basic level programming skills, particularly Python, R, MATLAB, or Fortran, with eagerness of earning more.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data; Confident and self-driven individual; has Can-Do attitude; Ability to work in teams and do multi-tasking; ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
