Overview:

In this role, the Principal Engineer – Projects will be responsible for technically leading and managing the lifecycle and operational aspects of a project for an Electronic product/system of Actuation Systems. Principal Engineer shall work alongside the program manager for successful execution of a project.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Electronic Product Development Lifecycle and its execution

  • Understand stakeholder requirements and effectively plan the project to meet these requirements.

  • Collaborates with System Architect, discipline leads and Project Manager to define the Delivery/Release Plan based on the customer requirements.

  • Defines the entry/exit criteria for each major milestone including list of deliverables.

  • Develops and Maintains strategic partnerships with customers, stakeholders, and peers

  • Negotiates with customer / stake holders on risks, delivery plans and entry/exit criteria.

  • Acts as a moderator in bringing synergy among product development teams.

  • Responsible for meeting on time delivery and quality of deliverable

  • Supports production , supply chain and manufacturing teams in meeting the customer demand for hardware

  • Technical/product level decision making capabilities and define priorities.

  • Collaboration with cross functional teams like Systems, Electronics, Software, Firmware, Program, Mechanical, Test, etc.

  • Work with program focal for Scope Management, Risk Management, Change Management, and Cost

  • Work with Functional managers for resource profiling.

  • Lead project / Program reviews with Larger Program Teams through events such as PDR, CDR and TRLs.

  • Responsible for resource forecasting & project estimation whilst working closely with Program manager and senior Leadership.

  • Lead all project reviews (customer as well as internal leadership)

  • Responsible to seamlessly guide a technical team towards scope and resolving intra-functional and inter-functional conflicts for unified project team goal.

  • Responsible to coordinate with supply chain/sourcing and regulatory authorities for hardware development Globally.

  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to meet producibility /production cost objective of the assigned program.

  • Participate in technical negotiations with global partners and customers to maintain program scope.

  • Understands certification requirements and drives the certification/qualification campaign for the product/system.

  • Work with manufacturing team for production transfer.

Basic and preferred Qualifications:

  • 13 to 15 years of Industry experience with experience in Systems/Electronics product development

  • BE/B-tech/MTech in Electronics/electrical discipline

  • Strong communication (writing and verbal) and decision making skills.

  • Good knowledge/understanding of product qualification based on DO-160 or equivalent industry standard.

  • Electronic product design background & technical leadership experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge of DO-178 and DO-254 is an added advantage

  • Ability to understand detailed design analysis against worst case variations and comprehensively prove performance of design to requirements.

  • Awareness of Aerospace product certification requirements.
