Digital Engineering is Thermo Fisher’s “Software Engineering” centre of excellence in Bengaluru. How will you make an impact?

As part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, Digital Science Solutions (DSS) Business Unit working on Connect Enterprise platform, you will provide leadership to the agile teams, assist in solutioning, design, development activities for various products and initiatives supporting our digital science vision. You will lead and mentor software team members to support their career growth. You will support agile teams in collaboration, problem solving, decision-making and removing barriers so that teams can deliver high quality, innovative software on time.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Hands-on management of an agile scrum team ensuring great execution of Agile/SCRUM processes and predictable + high-quality delivery of software solutions.

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, resource planning, and drive successful growth of the team.

  • Lead the design and development of new products/revisions. Define technical requirements. Delegate development tasks to the team members. Coordinate successful completion of sprints and releases.

  • Establish training/onboarding plans for new team members

  • Develop and sustain relationships with vendors and joint development partners that accelerate the team’s product development activities.

Education/Experience

  • BS degree desired in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.

  • 10+ years related experience in software development

  • 3+ years experience leading a software development team in an Agile/SCRUM setting, with demonstrated ability in project/task estimation, delegation, and management

  • 3+ years experience in people management, compensation planning, performance evaluations, development plans and goal setting

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities..

  • Proven ability in designing and building scalable, cost efficient, cloud-based products with Java/.NET based microservices, docker containers, AWS managed services, Kubernetes based deployment, Grafana Loki.

  • Must have consistent track record of demonstrating ownership and providing technical leadership of products during development and during production support.

  • Good knowledge of unit tests (TDD), automated tests (BDD), CI/CD, DevOps, Agile, SAFe

  • Ability to use data and metrics to identify and solve problems and drive continuous improvement

  • A highly motivated fast learner. Anticipates needs and problems and creates solutions. Is willing to ask difficult questions and thinks creatively. Greets challenge and change as opportunity

  • Is authentic, transparent, holding self and others accountable. Inspires, nurtures, motivates and collaborates with others

  • Able to build deeper and meaningful relationship with team members

  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills. Be persuasive, be able to listen, and incorporates others perspectives
