Job Overview
We are seeking a creative, dynamic, and collaborative Manager, Event Planning to lead the strategy and execution of events that advance TE Connectivity’s brand and market relationships. In this critical role, working with the business units of TE, you will be a crucial partner in helping us establish our brand and positioning through omnichannel experience as it relates to events. Planning, coordinating, and executing various events, including corporate meetings, trade shows, webinars, and special events, will be an extension of that mission. You will work closely with internal stakeholders across business units and functions, ensuring events align with business objectives and are delivered on time and within budget.
As a strategic leader, you will develop and oversee the overall event strategy to drive engagement, impact, and revenue. This role involves mentoring and managing a team of 2-3 event coordinators, fostering innovation, and ensuring collaboration to create exceptional event experiences. You will also be responsible for negotiating with vendors, ensuring seamless execution, and achieving event goals. Your passion for delivering unparalleled experiences and your ability to think strategically and connect the dots will be vital in shaping the future of TE Connectivity's events and advancing our market presence.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement Event Strategy
• Create and oversee a comprehensive events strategy aligned with TE Connectivity’s growth objectives.
• Design and deliver sponsorships and event experiences that build TE Connectivity’s brand and deepen relationships with clients and prospects through meaningful interactions, social experiences, and branding.
Event Planning & Strategy Execution
• Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to define event goals, target audiences, and desired outcomes.
• Develop and implement creative event concepts, themes, and formats that align with organizational objectives.
• Create detailed event plans, including timelines, budgets, and risk management strategies.
Vendor & Sponsorship Management
• Negotiate sponsorship levels within approved funding limits and oversee contract compliance.
• Work closely with third-party hosts, vendors, and destination marketing companies to ensure high-quality and timely deliverables, particularly for sponsored events.
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of event professionals, ensuring the successful delivery of events from concept through execution and post-event evaluation.
• Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within the team to deliver exceptional event experiences.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Collaborate across functions, sectors, and alliances with internal teams to integrate event initiatives into broader organizational strategies.
• Work with various internal teams on venue selection, branding, content creation, invitations, registration, lodging, marketing materials, budgeting, staffing, and on-site logistics.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including business leaders, marketing teams, vendors, and compliance officers, to ensure a cohesive and high-quality event experience.
• Host regular planning calls with key stakeholders and the event planning team to ensure alignment and progress.
Brand Integration
• Leverage TE Connectivity’s brand components in all event and sponsorship activities to enhance brand visibility and consistency.
• Collaborate with the BU marketing stakeholders to manage event messaging, branding, and content.
Event Execution & Logistics
• Oversee end-to-end event logistics, including vendor management, budgeting, staffing, and on-site execution to ensure seamless delivery.
Post-Event Evaluation & Reporting
• Perform post-event duties, including debriefs, recap reports, expense processing, invoice reconciliation, and success assessments.
• Provide feedback to the team and vendors to continuously improve event processes and outcomes.
Desired Candidate Profile:
• Experience: 8 years of related work experience with a proven track record of creating and delivering successful events from inception to completion in virtual and in-person environments.
• People & Team Management: Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and mentor internal and external teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
• Project & Financial Management: Strong project management skills, including handling multiple workstreams simultaneously, budgeting, financial planning, and using tools such as project plans, budget trackers, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Vendor Negotiation & Management: Proven experience negotiating with and managing vendors, ensuring quality deliverables and adherence to timelines and budgets.
• Event Strategy: Expertise in developing event strategies, particularly within a B2B environment, focusing on creating innovative event experiences based on business needs.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in A/V technology, online event platforms (web and mobile), and digital, live-streamed, and in-person event tools.
• Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities to influence and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving & Conflict Resolution: Adept at problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making in fast-paced environments.
• Detail-Oriented & Time Management: Strong attention to detail with excellent time management skills to ensure event goals are met on time and within budget.
• Adaptability & Startup Mentality: Flexible, with a bias toward action, and able to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments while maintaining a positive and motivated attitude.
• Travel: Willingness to travel globally and domestically up to 20% for event-related needs.
• Experience with large-scale corporate events or international event planning.
• Familiarity with sustainability practices in event management.
• Certification in Event Planning or Project Management (e.g., Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP)
