This position is for Leica Biosystems team located at Danaher India Development Center (IDC), Bangalore.

IDC is a research and development center with the vision of accelerating product roadmaps across various Danaher business segments. Started in 2014, the center now hosts 500+ associates, for multiple Danaher operating companies focusing on Diagnostics, Life Science, and Environmental and Applied Science segments. The operating companies includes Beckman Coulter, Radiometer, Leica Biosystems, Danaher Digital, Hach, Leica Microsystems, HemoCue, Videojet and Cepheid.

The IDC workforce comprises of various product engineering teams, working on development of software and hardware components of cutting-edge products for, Immunoassay, Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular diagnostics, Oncology, Neurosurgery and Water Quality. IDC has evolved as center of excellence for Cloud and data analytics, with significant contributions to the key informatics solutions. The teams consist of highly talented software & hardware engineers and development managers. The teams are supported by local Product managers, Quality & Regulatory and Intellectual property specialists.

The inhouse teams works in close coordination with other global R&D centers at US, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Denmark and Sweden. Located at the center of Bangalore IT HUB, IDC is housed at state of art facility, measuring 120 K Sqft.

The Role:

The Lead Software Engineer I in Test Automation will lead the test automation activity for one or more projects/products of Leica Biosystems. You will lead team of automation engineers and work closely with project manager, verification manager and other leads in project to achieve the project goals.

You will report to Engineering Manager,Test Automation, India Development Center. For day to day activity you will be reporting to the Project Manager.

Your key responsibilities will include, and not limited to:

  • On time delivery of Test Automation tasks for project

  • Authoring Automation Strategy for projects

  • Assessment of product requirements to provide strategy & impact on Test Automation of the product.

  • Author, Co-Author and review various verification documents (e.g:- Test Plan)

  • Create/ Maintain the Automation framework/ Infrastructure for the project

  • Creating POC for product feature Automation

  • Create Strategy to increase Automation coverage for product

  • Create/Maintain the bowler for tracking the progress of the automation deliverables and report the same to management

  • Manage, plan and assign tasks to the team

  • To be responsible for work quality of team, ensuring it meets the relevant technical and regulatory standards.

  • Drive the design/code review process for test automation, seeking and providing constructive criticism

  • Identify Automation Opportunity in project to reduce verification time

  • Drive continuous integration by development and automated execution of verification & validation tests.

  • Provide estimates of detailed level project related verification activities.

  • Mentor, encourage, and motivate team members

  • Highlighting any automation risks for Project on time to the management

  • prioritization of cross-team automation initiatives & lead those within your own team

    To be successful in this opportunity, the must haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Master’s degree in Software Engineering or Information Science/Technology or a related field with 9+ years’ experience.

  • 3+ years’ experience in leading Test automation team

  • 5+ years hands-on experience with and/or familiarity with a variety of software test automation tools

  • Experience in Test automation and Software Testing including the application of test processes through software development life cycles.

  • Hands-on experience in testing of desktop applications, automation software tools, concepts, and applications.

  • Experience in application of test process through software development life cycles.

  • Experience in BDD test development practices

  • Experience in creating test plans, test cases and automation of test cases

  • Experience in automation framework design and development

  • Excellent programming and technical skills in C#, ASP .NET /Python/, Powershell, Javascript.

  • Experience in developing automation test using ASP .Net -C# ,Python, javascript, Telerik, Selenium, Cypress and performing code reviews, defect analysis, and identifying automation opportunities

  • Strong understanding on OOPS, Data structures, computational complexity, Design patterns.

  • Experience in Web/Windows/API/Microservices automation testing

  • Experience in Performance testing & its tools

  • Development of SQL scripts and undertaking basic database administration activities. (Preferable)

  • Should have worked in CI Tools (Team city Preferable) & GIT or similar version control

  • Should have experience in Test & Defect Management tool (HP Quality Centre & Jira Preferable)

  • Proven experience in performing proof of concepts to resolve complex technical challenges

  • Experience in Agile software development process.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are an absolute necessity

  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

  • Should have a deeper understanding of the product at the implementation level, should be able to analyze logs and API responses in the Micro-Service integration level.

  • Ability to root-cause defects by analyzing logs, fix automation/product issues

  • Should have strong programming, debugging experience, and excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively both within a team and cross-group to drive identification and resolution of issues to ship under tight deadlines along with being able to drive features into the product

  • Experience in the Medical Device/IVD field with exposure to design control regulations. (Preferable)

    Nice to have:

  • Experience in various tools development using Languages (Any OOPs language, TypeScript, Go, Java, Blazor,Vue.js etc..)

  • Experience of software development & testing in a regulated development environment.
