Amazon Immigration Specialist, Immigration Support in Bangalore, India

Amazon’s Business Mobility Services (BMS) team continues to elevate its best-in-class professional services, delivering exceptional immigration support to Amazon businesses, employees, and candidates globally. Comprising of project managers, analysts, and seasoned immigration subject matter experts, the team actively serves as strategic partners and consultants to Amazon business leaders and partner teams. Currently, the team centrally manages immigration filings and associated vendors for Amazon, concurrently driving projects aimed at ongoing improvement in the cost, quality, and compliance of immigration services at Amazon.

We are seeking an Immigration Specialist, to support the needs of our growing India immigration Hub team based in Bangalore. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in efficiently managing H-1B visa transactions, devoting 70% of your time to ensuring seamless processes for a high volume of transactions. Your duties encompass meticulous documentation handling, maintaining clear communication, and resolving issues promptly during the visa application process, all while adhering strictly to standard operating procedures and immigration regulations.

Furthermore, in the remaining 30% of your responsibilities, you will actively engage in project-related tasks. This includes participating in thorough reviews of the application process and collaborating with a cross-functional team to optimize workflows. Your role extends to proposing and implementing process enhancements, utilizing your insights to contribute to the automation of manual processes. As a representative of the India Immigration team, you will attend meetings as a Subject Matter Expert, showcasing your expertise and actively contributing to the continuous improvement of immigration processes.

Key job responsibilities

Case Management Responsibilities (Time allocation: 70%)

• Efficiently handle high volumes of H-1B visa transactions in strict alignment with standard operating procedures.

• Gather necessary information to understand candidates'/employees' professional background and immigration needs.

• Conduct thorough assessments of qualifications and eligibility for H-1B visa candidates/employees.

• Manage and organize all documentation related to H-1B visa applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with immigration regulations.

• Maintain effective and timely case process communications with candidates/employees, providing updates on their visa application status.

• Provide guidance on immigration application procedures and timeframes to candidates/employees in line with government requirements.

• Address challenges during the visa application process, ensuring resolution.

• Ensure accuracy and compliance with immigration regulations through audits and analysis.

• Adhere to privacy and confidentiality regulations in maintaining records.

• Act as a first point of contact, handling service escalations for root cause analysis and remediation.

• Update the case management system in a timely and accurate manner.

Project Responsibilities and Leadership Values (Time allocation: 30%)

• Build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders (internal and external) to understand immigration process improvement opportunities, provide recommendations, and participate in the development of robust quality/process improvement initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of human resources experience

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5+ years of experience in US immigration programs with broad knowledge and experience in working with right to work, work authorization and human resource processes and employee lifecycle.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; high quality document and report preparation.

  • Experience managing confidential and sensitive employee information and adherence to strict confidentiality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with process improvement and stakeholder management

  • Good knowledge of immigration laws, regulations, and company policies.

  • Proven ability to identify process defects, make recommendations for process improvements, and implement process improvements.

  • Proficiency in monitoring process execution and ensuring quality service.

  • Experience identifying and rectifying process defects in collaboration with teams.

  • Track record of driving successful initiatives for process automation.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and nurture relationships for continuous process improvement.
