Robert Half Sr. Staff Accountant in Baltimore, Maryland

Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant in the non-profit industry based in Baltimore, Maryland. This role involves the management of financial activities, preparation of financial reports, and assistance in auditing and tax return processes. It's crucial for this role that the individual is proficient in account reconciliation, general ledger, and journal entries, among other skills.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the monthly payment process and manage recovery of overpayments.

• Prepare financial and unit reports for external departments.

• Handle repayment agreement transactions and validate annual reporting.

• Aid in the preparation of monthly financial statements and organizational budgets.

• Provide staff support to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.

• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of utility assistance payments.

• Communicate effectively with other colleagues and serve as the main contact person for accounts payable.

• Assist with the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports in the finance department.

• Process financial activities related to Accounts Payable to ensure effective working processes.

• Assist with yearly financial and single audits and tax returns.

• Undertake special projects and provide support to the Finance Operations Director

Requirements

• Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

• A minimum of 3 years of experience working as an Accountant

• Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations

• Solid experience with general ledger management and journal entries

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

• Demonstrated experience in month-end close procedures

• Proficiency in QuickBooks is preferred

• Prior experience in a non-profit organization is preferred

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must be detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines

• Knowledge of local, state, and federal financial regulations.
